Our Approach to Materials

Ruth Fence and Deck believes in using the right material for the right application. For picket fences, we use Eastern Red Cedar — a wood native to Kentucky that is naturally rot-resistant without chemical treatment, dimensionally stable in our climate, and beautiful. For fence posts and structural members, we use pressure-treated pine which excels in ground contact applications. For privacy fences we offer both pressure-treated pine and cedar depending on the customer's preference and budget.

For decks, we build in pressure-treated pine, cedar, and composite materials including Trex. We give every customer an honest comparison of their options — including maintenance requirements and total cost of ownership over time — so they can make the best decision for their situation.
